: New Stroud Firehall; Fire Chief Scott Griffith presents Irene Willoughby with a bouquet of flowers and acknowledges her contribution to Innisfil Fire Dept. at the opening of the New Fire Hall in Stroud on Dec. 2, 2002. Dec. 2, 1952 the original Fire Hall #3 was opened in Stroud and Irene Willoughby was the original dispatcher for Fire and Police calls, doing it from her home for numerous years. : Oswald R. Black; Photo of Oswald R. Black dressed in a coat and holding a fedora in his hand, taken outdoors in 1956. The photo can also be found on page 111 of the Stroud Tweedsmuir History, volume II. Mr. Black was the son of Johnston Black and Louisa Robins, and grandson of James Black, one of Innisfil's early pioneers who emigrated from Dungannon, Ireland in 1847 with his children. brother John, and sisters Isabella and Sarah. Oswald Black was born in 1881 and died in 1966 at age 85. He married Mayme Black (1885-1966) who was a relation from a different branch of the Black family., IHS3382-117

: Parker Peacock And Fraser Sutherland With A Prize-Winning Colt; Photo of Parker Peacock and Fraser Sutherland standing beside a farm building with a large, fully grown horse as well as a prize winning colt owned by Parker's father, Fred Peacock. Parker was the fifth generation of Peacocks to live on the family farm in Innisfil, north half of lot 14 on the eighth concession. The founder of the farm was Captain John A. Peacock, a British army veteran of Cadiz, Gibraltar, Spain, and the Battle of Waterloo. This photo appears on page 60 of the Stroud Tweedsmuir History, volume II., IHS3382-65B

Robert and Emma were married on 2 June 1915, and Stanley and Mina were married on 11 August 1915. Both women are wearing white wedding gowns and veils and holding a bouquet, and both men are wearing dark suits and boutonnières. This portrait was presumably taken at a later time since the weddings occurred on two separate occasions, possibly to share photography costs., IHS1897

: Private Arthur Brooke Jack, Veteran; Photo of Arthur Jack, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jack (Edith) in his army uniform. Arthur was a veteran of the First World War, having enlisted in 1917, in the 116th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field and was wounded at Amiens in 1918. After the war he sailed on the Great Lakes freighters, becoming a Second-Class Engineer. A serious injury from a fall while on the boats forced his retirement in 1931. He married Evelyn Moran. His son's names are Lachlan, Ian, Colin, and Arthur Jr., IHS1004

: Private Hilliard Rainey; Photo of Hilliard Rainy, son of Johnathan and Emma Rainy, in full army uniform holding a baton. He was born and raised at SH lot 4, conc. 3 in Innisfil and educated at Bethesda School. He joined the Canadian Army to serve in the First World War (1914-1918), as part of the 24th Battalion, and was killed at the Battle of Somme, France on October 3,1916 at age 30. He is buried at Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. He was also first cousin to Fred Rainy., IHS2502

: Private James Duncan Reid; Studio photo of Duncan Reid, son of Joseph and Phyllis (née Duncan) Reid. He died 30 September 1918 in France (originally reported on this record as November 1917). Private Duncan enlisted with the 157th Battalion after training at Camp Borden, and was deployed overseas in October 1916. Barrie Examiner: When the special call came for men from Simcoe, he was among the first who answered that call of duty and humanity, enlisting with the 157th Battalion. After training at Camp Borden, he went overseas with that unit in October 1916. When his Battalion was broken up in England he was transferred to the 75th Battalion and went to France on May 24, 1917, and had taken part in the heavy fighting of the summer. He was gassed on Nov. 10th 1918, and was sent to Liverpool Hospital for treatment. There he remained for four months, going thence to a convalescent camp. Again joining the. 75th Battalion, he returned to France on August 19, 1918, being there only five weeks when word was received that he had been killed in action. He was not married. The stripes on the forearms of his uniform indicate that he had been wounded, so the photo was likely taken before he returned to active duty and not long before his death. : Railroad Damage From Hurricane Hazel; Photograph from 1954 showing the aftermath of Hurricane Hazel, a devastating storm that caused major flooding in the Holland Marsh.
