Canada 150: Visual Stories of Innisfil

See our community's history come alive in the creative artworks of local Innisfil artist, Jacqueline Swanek, as she reimagines the colours and textures of our memories in a brand new exhibit entitled Canada 150: Visual Stories of Innisfil. Inspired by vintage photographs from the Innisfil Historical Society and Our Stories collections, her work can be familiar and nostalgic, yet somewhat strange and unfamiliar. The use of repetition, intense patterning and mark-making paired with ghost-like figures and areas of emptiness speaks to the true nature of memory — clear, but also fragmented and spotty.

Join us for an opening reception to celebrate this exciting new exhibit on Thursday, July 27th at 7:00 p.m at the Lakeshore Branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library. Take a stroll down memory lane with a performative reading of stories from Innisfil's past followed by light refreshments and a chance to meet the artist and view these vivid works in person.
