Undated photo of James Baron Cooke seated, wearing an unidentified uniform or military jacket - likely his father's uniform who had fought for the British in the War of 1812 - featuring large buttons and a belt with a metal clasp cinched at the waist. James and his family had moved from Quebec to Barrie, and then to Innisfil in approximately 1877 and settled on a farm at Big Bay Point on lot 30, concession 14. The farm today exists as the Big Bay Point golf course as well as a strip of waterfront that had been converted into cottage waterfront lots. Photo donated to Bill Warnica by Nanci Patten, the second great-granddaughter of James Baron Cooke and his wife Mary Alice Booth. James was also a carpenter, and some of the furniture he built remains with his descendants.
