Albert Pratt Farm
Albert Pratt Farm; in Pratt name from Crown to 1959. John Pratt (1792-1861) came from Gloucestershire, England in 1832 and settled on this farm. In 1834, his wife (nee Ann Smith, 1801-1851) came to Canada with five children: William, Mary, Fanny, George and Jesse. Two younger sons, John and Henry were born in Canada., IHS2293

Alcona Beach Public School
Alcona Beach Public School, located on what is today 967 Innisfil Beach Rd. Built in 1954 to relieve the pressure on #8 Nantyr due to growth in the Alcona area. During construction the contractor met with financial difficulties and building further suffered from the aftermath of Hurricane Hazel. The pupils were relocated to temporary classrooms in a dance hall at the lakeshore with inadequate insulation and heating. Construction was completed in early 1955, but the school was closed once Goodfellow School opened at Lot 25 N.H. Conc. 9., IHS3516

Alcona Garage - Frank & Marjorie Jones
Frank Jones with his wife, Marjorie, was the proprietor of the Alcona Garage, located at the northeast corner of Highway 11 (Yonge Street) and Innisfil Beach Road (Concession 8). Frank Jones bought this property from James Albert Ferris on 19 April 1933. James Ferris' daughter, Hilda, married Archie McNabb, who owned the farm in the background and surrounding the garage from at least 1942 onward. The garage was opened in 1933. Previously, Mr. Jones operated a garage on the southeast corner of Concession 8 and the 20th sideroad on the Jones farm. It was purchased by the D.H.O. to widen the corner in 1970. The building was sold to A. Yeates and is now a residence at south half Lot 20, Concession 7., IHS4123
Alcona Garage - Frank Jones Proprietor
Frank Jones with his wife, Marjorie, was the proprietor of the Alcona Garage, located at the northeast corner of Highway 11 (Yonge Street) and Innisfil Beach Road (Concession 8). Portrait of Mr. Alexander McDonald (born 1865) and his wife Sarah Eugenia Wice (born 1867). They married on 2nd June 1889 and had one son, Cyril Reginald (born 1893). Alex was the son of Byron and Julia McDonald, and Sarah was the daughter of George and Mary Jane Wice., IHS1470
