Braden School
Braden's School is the oldest school in Essa today. It was built on the site of a log school used in the early pioneer days, and the lot was given by the Braden family. One of the teachers was Thos McKee, who also preached in the 1st Essa Church across the road. Later Mr McKee was Inspector for many years in South Simcoe. Among the graduates from Braden's School were the Hon J S Duff, J A Duff, C E, and Dr J A Dinwoody. Braden's School was closed on January 1960 when the new Cookstown School took over five country schools in the district.

Buildings Of Cookstown
Photo of downtown Cookstown circa 1900 taken of the north side of Queen Street. The buildings visible in the image from left to right are the butcher shop, telephone office, Eby's Store (also known as Bob Robinson's), and the Mansion House Hotel. The image also features some large machinery, a threshing machine and water tank owned by the Water Ferrier of Innisfil, parked in front of the Mansion House Hotel being towed by a tractor and operated by two men. The telephone lines are also visible, but the image predates the installation of hydro lines.
Burnside Farm
Photo of the Burnside farm, including a large barn with "Burnside" lettered on the front, and a large two storey home. The house was originally brought from Maple Villa, another part of the farm, and was moved to the present site pictured. The barn was also moved from the creek to its location in the photo.
